No Mold. No Paint. Just Plaster.

A Finish That Breathes,
Lasts, and Elevates

Venetian plaster is an ancient Italian wall finish made from authentic lime plaster and marble dust. Applied by hand in thin, overlapping layers and burnished to a luminous sheen, it creates a depth and texture that paint simply cannot achieve.

Unlike modern paints and synthetic coatings, true Venetian plaster is a living material. It regulates humidity, inhibits mold growth naturally, and only becomes more beautiful with age — the same walls installed in centuries-old Italian villas still stand today.

"When you understand what authentic lime plaster actually does — for air quality, for longevity, for mold prevention — the choice becomes clear. This isn't just decoration. It's a better way to finish a home."

Built to Outlast
Everything Else

Lasts for Centuries

Authentic Venetian plaster doesn't peel, chip, or fade. The lime-based finish cures and hardens over time, becoming more durable with every passing year. Many original applications in Italy are hundreds of years old.

Naturally Mold-Resistant

The high pH of lime plaster creates an environment where mold simply cannot grow. This is especially valuable in Oregon's damp climate — a healthier, low-maintenance alternative to paint on every wall.

Adds Real Home Value

Venetian plaster is a premium material that discerning buyers recognize. It signals quality craftsmanship, reduces future maintenance costs, and differentiates your home in any market.

Healthy & Breathable

Lime plaster naturally regulates indoor humidity and improves air quality. No off-gassing, no VOCs. For homeowners increasingly conscious of what's on their walls, it's the cleanest choice available.

Easy to Repair

Unlike paint or wallpaper, Venetian plaster is remarkably easy to repair. Scratches and chips can be matched and blended seamlessly — even years later — without replacing an entire wall.

Endlessly Customizable

From smooth and polished to richly textured, from crisp modern white to warm old-world earth tones — Venetian plaster is custom-mixed and hand-applied to match your exact vision.

One Technique,
Infinite Expressions

Modern

Clean, polished, and luminous. High-burnish finish with smooth marble-like depth. Perfect for contemporary and minimalist interiors.

Classical

Warm, rich tones with visible layering. Inspired by Renaissance palaces and Italian villas. Brings grandeur to formal living spaces.

Modern Organic

Soft, earthy, and textured. A natural finish that connects interior spaces to the outdoors. Popular in spa-inspired and biophilic designs.

Old World

Aged, layered, and full of character. Matte to mid-sheen with intentional variation. Evokes the warmth of European farmhouses and historic estates.

  • 25+ Years of Experience Amy started learning the trade as a teenager in her father's construction company. She has been specializing in decorative plaster and artisan finishes for over two decades.
  • Trained in Italy Amy spent nearly a month studying authentic lime plaster techniques in Italy — learning directly from the source, not from YouTube. That depth of knowledge shows in every project.
  • Only USA-Certified Microcement Installer in Oregon Amy holds a professional certification that no other installer in the state has — a credential that matters when your surfaces need to perform and last.
  • Family-Owned Since 2003 Exquisite Plaster & Design is built on reputation, not volume. Amy takes on projects she's proud to put her name on — every single time.

"When I was in Italy, I realized most of what's being sold as 'Venetian plaster' in the US isn't the real thing. Authentic lime plaster behaves differently — it breathes, it cures, it lasts. Once you understand the difference, you can't go back."

Everything You
Want to Know

Venetian plaster is a specialty finish and most homeowners have never worked with it before. Here are the questions we hear most often.

How long does Venetian plaster take to install? +
Most residential projects take 2–5 days depending on square footage and the number of layers in the chosen finish. Because each layer must cure before the next is applied, we never rush the process. Good plaster work takes the time it takes.
Can Venetian plaster go in a bathroom or kitchen? +
Yes. With proper sealing, Venetian plaster is moisture-resistant and performs beautifully in bathrooms and kitchens. For wet areas like showers, we typically recommend Tadelakt — Amy's other specialty — which is fully waterproof and ideal for Oregon's humid conditions.
How does it compare in cost to regular paint? +
Venetian plaster costs more upfront than standard paint. However, when you factor in longevity (centuries vs years), zero repainting cycles, mold resistance, improved air quality, and the added home value it delivers, most homeowners find it exceptional value over time.
Do you work on commercial projects too? +
Absolutely. Amy works with interior designers, architects, and businesses across Oregon. Venetian plaster is a stunning choice for hotel lobbies, restaurant interiors, high-end retail, and office environments where a distinctive, premium finish matters.
Can I see examples before committing? +
Yes — we always create a custom sample board before any project begins, so you can see your exact color and texture at full scale in your own space. You'll know exactly what you're getting before we start.
Do you travel outside of Albany / Oregon? +
Yes. While we're based in Albany, Oregon, we travel throughout the state and will consider projects beyond Oregon for the right job. Reach out and tell us about your project — we'd love to hear from you.
